Transmissions
At Bron’s Automotive we sometimes recommend transmission services to our customers. Servicing a transmission involves both a physical inspection as well as changing out the transmission fluid, and a final test drive. We use only the same fluid that the transmission was designed to use from the factory. With proper servicing, modern transmissions can provide dependable service for the life of the vehicle. We sometimes recommend servicing more often when vehicles are used extensively for towing.
If a problem should occur, we have a lot of experience diagnosing and repairing transmissions, both manual and automatic. Diagnosis is the key to success as modern automatic transmissions are electronically controlled. It is common for minor secondary electrical problems to create an engine misfire that feels exactly like the transmission is slipping. Sometimes a simple tune-up is the cure.
We also have current service information for all makes and models, and hire only ASE certified technicians, so if a problem is more complex, we can give you the correct answer to your problem. Many times a seemingly serious problem can be fixed by replacing a sensor or solenoid, or simply by reprogramming the transmission computer, much the way Microsoft can cure performance issues with their updates.
